Spices

Lanie has a thing with spices.  If we're not careful she'll take one, open it, and sometimes eat it.  She seems particularly into chili pepper and peppers.  We stayed at my parents' house last week and the black pepper disappeared and sure enough I found it dumped into a bag later on that day.

We are working on our kitchen, originally to put new floors in, and I packed everything up.  The spices were in a box, which I carefully put up on top of a table in the living room, out of reach, and Lanie managed to some how climb over a number of bags and boxes of kitchen items, get a tin of chili pepper, open it and dump it.  She came to me and said, "look!", took me to the mess, said, "oh, mess!" and then cried when I reprimanded her.

"Look! Mess!"

The clear Tupperware box on the table in front of the window is where the spices were located.

How she felt when I got out the vacuum cleaner to have her clean up.

Still sad.

Sam's Snowball

About a week ago we had a quick overnight snowfall, about 4 inches or so (after a 60 degree day!).  We took a walk around the block and about halfway around Sam decided to start rolling a snowball which quickly gained momentum.  The snowball got bigger and bigger as he tried to push it home so that it could be the base for a snowman.  However it got too big to move.  I was charged with watching it while he ran home to get a sled to pull it home on.  It didn't fit on the sled and we couldn't push it uphill to get it home after a while.

This is him before we irresponsibly abandoned it on the side of the rode towards the end of our street.  He did take a chunk of it home and put it in a zip lock bag to keep.  I assumed it went in the freezer, but I later found the bag of water in his room.  He claims he's not throwing it away.

Lanie's Somersaults

Lanie decided to do somersaults the other day at playgroup with her caretaker.

Time Out Fail

Lanie gets put in time out for one minute each time she pulls Vivian's hair (when it's unprovoked).  However it doesn't seem to be working very well, we need a back up plan.  Now she will sometimes pull Vivian's hair, when Chris or I appear, she kind of tilts her head and smiles, then will occasionally put herself in time out.
The other day after multiple offenses, Chris picked her up and put her in time out, with the standard statement, "do not pull Vivian's hair."
When I walked by to go upstairs I noticed that she was contentedly pouring herself capfuls of sprinkles from a jar that she had somehow secured and was eating them.

Sleeping Kids

Lanie doesn't often sleep, but when she does she is very cute, as they all are.
