When Vivian gets away with not having a bath the night before and decides she doesn't want one in the morning either.

How did we get our hair colors?

Lanie came for a cuddle and was looking in the mirror.  I asked her how I had brown hair and she had her color.

She told me she got hers from the sky.  Then she said, "I got your brown hair from the sky.  I flew up like a bluebird and got your brown hair for you."
"Thanks," I said. "And how did you get down from the sky?"
"On a ladder!" she told me.
"Ah," I said. "Who was here first?  Mummy or Lanie?"
"I was," she said."I was here first and then I growed all the way up."

Lanie's Ailments

Lanie lay on the couch last night, put on the heating pad (as Sam had with the stomach bug last week), and held a paper towel in her mouth, and told us her tooth was "bleeding and all gone."

Luckily she recovered for dinner and her tooth even "got back in" so that she could eat.

Tooth # 2

Vivian's second tooth came out, more dramatically but we were luckily able to locate it this time and get it to the Tooth Fairy.  She was upset she had to take a bath and got stuck in her sweatshirt.  In her frustration she bit her shirt and yanked a tooth that was very slightly loose and jarred it.  After hysterics and a popsicle, her tooth was stuck out at an odd angle.  It remained like that for over a week. Finally she wiggled it enough that it got looser.  I tried to pull it out and couldn't, and while she was sitting on the floor we heard a ping, more like a clunk, and her tooth was on the floor.

There were more hysterics as Jack and Chris dove for the tooth at the same time and Vivian found her mouth was bloody.  Luckily Chris got the tooth before the dog.

The 100th Day of School

Now that we've phased out most of the school celebrations in the past ten years, we have established celebrating the 100th day of school.
Vivian collected one hundred pennies and took them in to do activities with and Sam's assignment was to dress up as if he were one hundred years old.  Nana and Grand-Joe helped located some props.  He didn't want to change his attire or hair, in case it impeded recess or gym playtime.  He decided he was "Cool Grandpa," which I think the humor comes from the mass amounts of graphic novels that he has been reading.

Yesterday morning I asked Lanie if she wanted to me to do her hair.

"Yes mama! Make my hair!" (that's Spanish phrasing) "Make me a pony! A big pony! The biggest pony ever! Like your hair! Like Vivian's hair! Like Cinderella's hair! Make it so big. I love it. I love the hair pony!"

I wish I had this enthusiasm for life.  Particularly at 7:00 am.
