Mama in New England

This is us, as I navigate motherhood and enjoy the amazing adventure.

We are a family of four, a cat and a dog, living outside Boston, Massachusetts. I started this blog as a way to update friends and family who are afar, but it seems to have become somewhat therapeutic & helps me laugh when I need to.

Live and Learn: The Baseboard Heaters

After having a plumber in, again, for various things, he asked offhandedly, "why my heaters were closed in the bathroom? and didn't I want the heat on in there?" It had been very cold in the bathroom. It turns out that the baseboard heaters had mostly been off. For five years.

So now they are open and on.

Closed and Off.

Open and On.

And now I know.

Life & Loss

A strong and beautiful woman died yesterday, bringing her baby into the world.   In this day and age, we so much take for granted the idea that we will go in to deliver our children, and be home in a few days, to raise and care for them.  Marissa will be missed and we will be thinking of her husband Jaap, and their new baby, Annie.  I hope that Marissa knows how many people want to help and care for her newborn, and how her friends are suffering.  I think of friends who have recently lost mothers and wish them strength.  I know how blessed I am to have a healthy baby and husband in my life, and family to help.
